We have developed a system for traffic management integrating advanced 3D visualization with geospatial databases. The project integrates weather information systems and variable message boards systems.
This is an advance on the tools for visualization, analysis and decision making based on meteorological information provided and managed by the Centro de Xestión de Tráfico Noroeste. Analysis and knowledge of weather conditions on the road network allows to predict which will be the areas where intervention may be needed and to quickly inform drivers on the variable message boards about it.
The goal is getting a tool to facilitate the interpretation of results, the alerts and potential problem situations location and increasing the efficiency in decision-making in urgent situations.
